Serengeti, Ngorogoro Crater, Selous, Tarangire, Lake Manyara - evocative names that, for most people, define the safari experience as surely as the wildlife that inhabits them. If your previous travel experience was with the Discovery Channel or if you have tried safaris elsewhere, but believe there is still more to experience, Tanzania offers unparalleled game-viewing across as diverse a range of habitats and eco-systems as exist on the continent of Mother Africa. The wealth of options available within the major Tanzanian parks defies comparison with anywhere else on the continent or, indeed, the planet. The East African Safari And Touring Company operate a series of trips across the major National Parks of Tanzania, each one designed to introduce the discerning client to this natural wealth (see itineraries ). However,
if you have an idea of what you want and where you will find it, then we
can mould your ideas and suggestions into something a little more tangible
than a hope. If you give us a brief resume of your interests, your time-frame
and the standard of accommodation, with a little team-work and an exchange
of e-mails, we can flesh out your hopes into a safari of a lifetime. Whether
you spend your African nights in a lodge on Ngorongoro Crater Rim, in a
tent in a remote private camp in the Northern Serengeti or in that classic
icon of the safari, the permanent tented camp, in the vast Selous Game Reserve,
there is always more to experience. It just depends on what you want. If
you then fancy foot safaris and night drives ( see Tarangire
Conservation ) an idyllic tropical beach (see Indian
Ocean ) or a visit to an area a little more remote and adventurous (
see Off
The Beaten Path), it can become another dimension to your personal itinerary. For those people who might be limited by budgets or time, we have initiated a series of set departures from January 2000 ( see itineraries ) intended to introduce those whose time might be limited, to the big four National Parks of the Tanzanian Northern Circuit. A six day visit to Tarangire (all acacia trees, sentinel Baobabs and roaming elephants - The Classic Africa), Lake Manyara (inspiration for Hemingway's Green Hills Of Africa - think flamingos, elephants, hippos, soda lakes, Rift Valley), Serengeti (like it needs an introduction) and Ngorongoro (breathtaking sunken caldera - a natural amphitheatre that showcases the finest range of Tanzanian wildlife, including Black Rhino) is as fine a safari as one could hope for in six days. To do all this with customised 4WD Land-Rovers, specialist safari dome-tents and an experienced safari crew is proof (because we feel it is sorely needed) that a budget camping safari need not be at the expense of operational integrity and client satisfaction. Budget does not imply cost-cutting, nor camping imply discomfort. It is a safari from the natural perspective, as close as we will get to bush living and an experience that goes beyond any previous holiday you might have had. Not that the lodges are in any unadventurous. Tented camps overlooking the wildebeest migration routes, bedrooms nestled amongst the kopjes, iconoclastic opulence on Ngorongoro crater rim, African-style bandas perched on the lip of the Great Rift Valley. These are just the obvious ones. If you're travelling this far, and the experience is more important than the price, then you may as well do it in style. There are no conditions to our quotes, no expectations of our clients' budgets and no safari itinerary is too complicated for us to operate. Our only condition is the client's assent to our doctrine of responsible tourism (as a working practice and not just a marketing tool) and our obligations to the environment, to the wildlife and to the people of Tanzania. |
